Interview with Jackie Wallace, Author of “Behind The Wall”

Jackie Wallace

Jukebox Time recently got a chance to interview Jackie Wallace in regard to her book Behind The Wall. We got insights into her book, her source of inspiration and much more!

Q. Welcome to Jukebox Mind! How are you doing?

Jackie Wallace: I’m doing well. Thank you for asking.

Q. Your book Behind The Wall is garnering good reviews. Please tell us about your wonderful book!

Jackie Wallace: The book is about a well-known musician, producer, and entrepreneur from Detroit Michigan named Tony Green. His love of music began at a young age, growing up watching his stepfather, the late jazz bassist, William Austin work on his dream. Tony’s journey took a path of its own, from becoming the youngest member to join The Dramatics’ Band, to working side by side with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. Tony traveled the world as a touring musician before coming back home to Detroit to build his own empire. In this new book, Behind the Wall, Tony shares his story from a turbulent childhood to his experience working with members of Death Row Records. He openly shares his failures and successes, his big breaks, and his hard losses. Tony shares his lessons and his blessings in his new inspiring book. Tony has since been acknowledged for his contribution to music around the world. He has won many awards and is featured on more platinum records than he could have imagined. His story doesn’t just resonate with musicians, but with anybody who has worked behind the scenes with little recognition, to help others, succeed in their dreams.

Q. What personally motivated you to write this book?

Jackie Wallace: I met Tony back in 2014 when I interviewed him for a Detroit Rock magazine. His story intrigued me and when he asked me to write his biography, I agreed to do so. Tony has since become a good friend of mine.

Q. Any daily writing mantra or tips that you follow in order to stay creative

Jackie Wallace: Definitely create a writing area that will allow you to get into a flow headspace before you start. Don’t overthink it. Write everything that comes to mind, you will eventually cut the excess out later.

Q. What’s next? Which book or projects are you working on now?

Jackie Wallace: I have a book called Leave Your Sh*t Here coming out January 10th, 2023. This is a collaboration with Liz Reed. It is a self-help workbook intended to help you control your emotions before they control you.

Q. Finally, as we ask all our guests on Jukebox Mind, do you have any closing thoughts that you would like to share with the world and our readers?

Jackie Wallace: I hope this book, as do all of my books, leave the reader feeling hopeful!
